Many home cinema fans will know the problem: Not enough space in the room for a projector to be placed to produce a large image. But now, BenQ have come to the rescue with the BenQ W1080ST. The BenQ W1080ST is a 3D Full HD projector that provides a short-throw lens designed to produce a large image in small spaces. For example a 2 metre wide image can be achieved from only 150 cm.

This means you can actually make any room into a home cinema, be it the living room or the bedroom. This opens up the home cinema market to a huge range of people who were unable to accommodate a projector before!

The BenQ W1080ST works using DLP technology, the DLP chip offers 1920 x 1080p Full HD resolution. The light output is 2000 lumens which is perfect for home cinema, and due to the shorter throw distance, not as much light is lost. The contrast is 10,000:1. These values are similar to the W1070 which we have already tested and been extremely impressed by, therefore, we expect the BenQ W1080ST to be similarly impressive.

All of the connections on the W1080ST are the same as the W1070, it offers two HDMI inputs, VGA, YUV, RCA and S-Video inputs If the features of the BenQ W1080ST are not already impressive enough, It also brings not only 3D ability, but also can be used with the nVidia 3D TV Play technology and its calibrated to ISF standards. The unit should also be very ecological, thanks to the BenQ SmartEco technology. All in all, the W1080ST a very interesting projector and if it proves to be as good as the W1070, we will be very impressed.
